HARRISONBURG - The law firm of Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC is pleased to announce that Robert A. Desilets, Jr. has joined the firm.
Robert A. Desilets, Jr. earned his law degree in 1992 from the University of Baltimore Law School.He also earned his LL.M. in Securities Regulation in 1994 and his LL.M. in Taxation in 1996 from GeorgetownUniversityLawCenter.He earned his undergraduate degree from WakeForestUniversity in 1989.
Prior to becoming associated with the Firm, Rob was an Attorney/Advisor with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. and an attorney in private practice.While at the Internal Revenue Service, Rob authored all forms of I.R.S. published guidance and received the National Office Award for his work as the principal author of the Proposed Corporate Estimated Tax Regulations.He also represented the Internal Revenue Service in all phases of tax litigation, including representing the I.R.S. in Tax Court.While in private practice, Rob has worked extensively with issues involving ERISA/Employee Benefits law, corporate and partnership tax, corporate reorganizations, International Tax issues, tax controversy and tax-exempt organizations.He also has substantial experience in numerous areas of Business Law, including entity formation, functionality and dissolution, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Desilets is admitted to practice in Virginia, District of Columbia, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Texas.He also speaks, reads, and writes fluent Spanish.
