Augusta County Bar Association's Recently Elected Officers - June 26, 2009

The Augusta County Bar Association recently elected their officers for the 2009-2010 term.

President Humes “Tripp” J. Franklin, Jr., a partner with Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC, completed his law degree in 2001 at the William and Mary School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and West Virginia. Tripp has been recognized by the Virginia Business Magazine as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite for the last three years and was voted as one of the “Rising Legal Stars in Virginia” by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2008. He focuses his practice in the areas of corporate litigation, personal injury, real estate, family and domestic law and criminal law.

President-Elect James Glick, a partner with Vellines, Cobbs, Goodwin & Glass P.L.C., graduated from the College of William & Mary’s Marshall Wythe School of Law in 1998. James is admitted to practice before all Virginia and federal courts. He is a member of the American Bar Association,Virginia Bar Association, and was the domestic relations attorney for Shenandoah Valley Social Services from 1998-2007.

Vice President Michelle “Shelley” K. Bishop is a 2003 graduate of Washington & Lee University School of Law. After law school she served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert G. Mayer, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia and worked as an associate at Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver.

Treasurer David Meeks, an associate with Allen & Carwile, P.C., is a 2002 graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law. He focuses his practice in the areas of business planning, civil litigation, collections, commercial and residential real estate transactions, criminal and traffic defense, family law, and landlord/tenant law.

Secretary Whitney Jackson Levin, an associate with Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC, graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2004 and completed a two year clerkship with the Honorable Jerome B. Friedman in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Norfolk , VA. She was recognized by the Virginia Business Magazine as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite in 2007 in the Young Lawyer category and in 2008 in the area of Real Estate/Land Use. Her practice includes real estate matters, commercial law, formation of business entities, and wills and trusts.

The Augusta County Bar Association was founded to promote ethical principles and practices in the law, to improve the administration of justice and increase the usefulness of the profession to the public at large.
