Paul F. Wiegel Joins Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver - January 28,2008

HARRISONBURG - The law firm of Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC is pleased to announce that Paul F. Wiegel has joined the firm.

Paul F. Wiegel earned his law degree in 2006 from the University of Baltimore School of Law.  He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University in 1997.  Before joining the firm, he earned his LL.M. in Intellectual Property in November 2007 at the prestigious Munich Intellectual Property Law Center in Germany.  In addition to having a master’s degree in intellectual property, Mr. Wiegel is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with particular expertise in the life sciences.  Mr. Wiegel focuses his practice in the areas of patent, intellectual property, civil litigation, tax, and health care law.  He is admitted to practice in Maryland.

HARRISONBURG - The law firm of Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC is pleased to announce that James L. Johnson and Douglas G. Leyshock have joined the firm.

James L. Johnson earned his law degree in 2004 from Widener University School of Law.  He attended North Carolina State University and received his bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Virginia in 2000.  Before joining the firm, he practiced at Shreves, Schudel, DeVol, Saunders, Jackson, Clarke, and Parello, PLLC.  In 2003-2004, Mr. Johnson was a law clerk for the Chief Counsel to the Pennsylvania State Police.  Mr. Johnson focuses his practice in the area of real estate and commercial law.  He is admitted to practice in Virginia and West Virginia.

Douglas G. Leyshock earned his law degree in 1998 from the University of Missouri, Hulston School of Law.  Before joining WAW, he was a Trial Team Leader and Senior Staff Counsel for the Missouri Attorney General.  Mr. Leyshock focuses his practice in the areas of employment law and civil litigation defense.  In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Leyshock also served as general counsel for the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy, as well as other government licensing agencies.  He is admitted to practice in Missouri.

Matthew Dunne earned his law degree in 2007 from the University of Virginia School of Law.  He graduated magna cum laude from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2003 with his bachelor’s degree in Political Science.  Mr. Dunne focuses his practice in the area of civil litigation, with an emphasis on insurance defense and personal injury.  He is admitted to practice in Virginia.

David C. Nahm earned his law degree in 2007 from the University of North Carolina School of Law.  He graduated from Centre College in 1997 with his bachelor’s degree in English.  Mr. Nahm focuses his practice in the areas of corporate and business law and real estate.  He is admitted to practice in Virginia.

Jodie E. Stokes earned her law degree in 2007 from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, graduating cum laude.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Indiana University-Purdue University in 2004.  Ms. Stokes focuses her practice in the areas of commercial law.  She is admitted to practice in Indiana.

Darden & Levin Join Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver's Staunton Office - October 16, 2007

STAUNTON - The law firm of Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC (WAW) opened their third office in the Shenandoah Valley in December, 2005 and is located in the historic section of downtown in the The American Hotel building on South Augusta Street. The other two WAW offices are located in Harrisonburg and Lexington.

Due to the growth and demand from Augusta County businesses, both Lauren R. Darden and Whitney Jackson Levin will have offices in the firm’s downtown Staunton location. Both attorneys currently practice in Harrisonburg but live and have roots in Augusta County. Below is a synopsis of their background which will immediately complement the existing practice:

Lauren R. Darden earned her law degree magna cum laude in 2006 from Washington and Lee University School of Law.  She graduated cum laude from James Madison University in 2000 with her bachelors degree in English.  She joined the firm in 2006 after completing a judicial clerk externship with the Honorable Humes J. Franklin, Jr. and the Honorable Thomas H. Wood in the twenty-fifth judicial circuit court of Virginia.  Ms. Darden focuses her practice in the areas of civil litigation and employment law.

Whitney Jackson Levin earned her law degree magna cum laude in 2004 from the University of Tennessee College of Law.  She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Pennsylvania State University in 1997 with her undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature and a minor in French.  She joined the firm in 2006 after completing a two year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Jerome B. Friedman in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Norfolk, VA.  Ms. Levin focuses her practice in the areas of real estate and commercial transactions.

Melanie J. Lyon earned her law degree in 1998 from the University of Chicago Law School.  She graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Barnard College of Columbia University in 1995 with her bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies.  Ms. Lyon focuses her practice in the areas of civil litigation and employment law.  She is admitted to practice in Illinois.

Luke M. Mullet earned his law degree in 2006 from the University of Notre Dame School of Law.  He graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in 2001 with his bachelor’s degree in Justice, Peace, and Conflict Studies.  Mr. Mullet focuses his practice in the areas of civil litigation and employment law.  He is admitted to practice in Virginia.
